Granting Authorities That Have Assisted the Bobcaygeon Curling Club:

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF)

The OTF is an agency of the government of Ontario. It awards approximately 1,500 grants each
year, totaling $100 million, to Community-based not-for-profit and charitable organizations in the
arts, recreation, environment as well as human and social services sectors. In the spring of 2011, our Club received a grant of $99,500 from OTF towards the replacement of our ice plant. We hosted an event at the Curling Club in the Fall of 2011, to recognize the OTF. The lounge was packed with people from the OTF, Members of our Club and many others from the Community in attendance.

Bobcaygeon Legacy C.H.E.S.T Fund:

C.H.E.S.T. (Community Hydro-Electric Systems Transfer)

The Order of the Commission made under the Municipal Act, at the time of amalgamation into the City of Kawartha Lakes, mandated that the hydro reserves of the public utilities commissions and the hydro electric commissions of the former Municipalities may be used for any purpose that the Council of the City of Kawartha Lakes considers appropriate but shall only be used for the benefit of the ratepayers of the geographic area of the former Municipality which the Utility served.

The goal of the Bobcaygeon Legacy C.H.E.S.T. Fund is to provide financial assistance to non-profit Community-based organizations that provide programs, projects, services or activities that enhance the quality of life for residents in the areas of health, arts, culture, leisure, heritage, education and the environment.

In 2013, our Club was successful in its application and was awarded $9,430 to replace the main entrance doors, the rear roll door to the rink and approximately half the cost to bring our ice plant room up to a level of approval required by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) of Ontario. We very much appreciate this support from the Grant Review Committee.

We have also applied for a grant from the C.H.E.S.T. Fund for 2014, all of which, if successful, would go towards the replacement and upgrading of our Hydro/electrical infrastructure at our Club. You will be advised of the outcome as soon as we get a response.

The Canadian Curling Association (CCA)

The Curling Assistance Program

The CCA has allocated funds from certain championship events for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the membership of the CCA including Provincial / Territorial Member Associations and affiliated curling facilities. This funding is known as the Curling Assistance Program and it targets projects designed to grow the sport at the Community level, or to assist capital projects critical to the operation and health of the CCA’s membership.

In the spring of 2013, our Club was awarded $8,500 to assist with the funding of capital projects such as new stoves, furniture, replacement of the motor in the dehumidifier and an energy audit.

The Bobcaygeon Curling Club gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the CCA through its Curling Assistance Program.
