About Us |
Bobcaygeon Curling Club was established in 1884 and is one of Ontario's oldest curling clubs. The current rink was built in 1976 by a grant from Wintario and several local contributors. The land is owned by the Bobcaygeon Fair Grounds and is rented to the curling club through a long term rental agreement. It provides a venue for the sport of curling in the Bobcaygeon area as well as serves as a focal point for social functions, and community events through out the year.
The club is a volunteer run organization and its members range in age from 6 to 90+. There is a strong spirit of community within the club and we support several local community outreach programs and charities both financially and as volunteers.
We have determined that the major challenges facing our club are a declining membership, insufficient financial revenue and a depleted capital reserve to ensure the long term viability of the club. While this is a situation facing many clubs in Ontario, we feel we must act now to develop a realistic and workable plan to guide us through the next several years.
This Marketing Plan has been developed and approved by the board of directors who are ultimately responsible for its implementation and success. The intent is to assemble the necessary information that will provide direction and continuity for the club, long term financial viability, engage the membership and secure further support from the Trillium Foundation.
To develop and maintain a viable curling club in the community of Bobcaygeon
To provide a fun, safe and welcoming environment for all members, regardless of age or ability.
To provide value and meet or exceed member expectations with a broad range of curling experiences.
To provide continued funding and volunteers to support groups within the broader community.
